SEO for Small Businesses: A Simple Guide
SEO means making your website easy to find on Google when people search for what you offer. It is one of the few ways to get customers without paying for every single click.
Why it matters for a small business
Before they call or visit, most people search online first. If your business shows up for those searches, the customer comes to you. Ads stop bringing visitors the day you stop paying for them. Good SEO keeps working month after month.
5 basics to start with
- Set up your Google Business Profile. If you serve a local area, do this first. Add your address, phone number, working hours and real photos.
- Write clear page titles. Each page should say what you do and where, like "Dental clinic in Pune", not just "Home".
- Make one page for each service. A separate page for each thing you offer gives Google, and your visitors, a clear answer.
- Keep your site fast and easy on mobile. Most visitors will open it on a phone. If it is slow or hard to read, they leave.
- Collect reviews and share useful content. Happy customers' reviews build trust, and helpful articles answer the questions people are already searching for.
How long does it take?
SEO is a long game. Think in months, not days. How fast you see results depends on how many others compete for the same searches and how much work is done each month.
